The performance of the RV-7A is stunning. Most people around here know the Pilatus PC7 Turbo Trainer... By taking figures from official Pilatus site: [EDIT pilatus aircraft introduced a new website in spring of 2005 which no longer features the PC7 performance figures. Note that the PC7 MKII is far superior] and comparing them with the RV7A you will see that there is not that much difference in certain areas! Of course the PC7 is larger, has dual cockpits fully instrumented for IFR, can carry more payload and due to the turbine, has more power available at altitude (although we might get a turbocharged engine ;-) ) But just to make a point, the RV is closer to a Pilatus than to a Piper :-) Depending on engine it will be hard to get 200hp in the end but then again the PC7 doesn't fly near Vne everyday ;-)
More Performance figures are available on the official rv-7 page at vansaircraft.com
