Our Mission Profile

Having decided that it was going to be an experimental, one has to clearly define the typical mission profile. There are thousands of designs in the experimental market and many different factors drive the decision for or against one or the other.

For us it was clear, that it had to be a "best bang for the buck" design, so we will eventually be able to fly as much as we can and want to afford. At the same time it had to be "better" than most planes available for rent in terms of performance, feel and - let's face it - looks don't hurt either...

Our Requirements:
  • High performance (nice speed ~160kts or more, good rate of climb, basic aerobatics capable)
  • Fun to pilot, challenge to remain "ahead of the airplane", stick or sidestick controls.
  • Stable and well controllable in cruise (with respect to potential IFR flight later on)
  • 2 Seater is sufficient
  • Tricycle gear, to be able to operate from major airports, e.g. Zürich, as well as from short fields
  • Good outside view
  • Reasonable cost ( ~ below 120'000 $)
  • Possibility to equip with new/modern engine technology
  • Quickbuild option available
  • Possible to build with the "average" persons' skills.
  • High chances to actually be able to succeed within reasonable time span (5 years) and without hangar space available yet...
  • Able to be built in phases (not everything at once, $$$-wise and chance to “have a building break”)

External Factors:
  • Swiss regulations (see www.experimental.ch)
  • Company reputation (too many manufacturers have come and gone)
  • Support & Community
  • Proven design (no interest to be guinea pigs ;-) )
